graduates

The px graduate programme is a 24 month development programme, committed to developing you professionally, technically and personally. We have a 100% progression rate from the programme and previous graduates are now lead engineers and senior commercial managers.

Keith first joined in 2001 for a one year placement at Teesside Power Station (TPS) as a Mechanical Undergraduate. Upon completion of his degree Keith returned and went onto the px Graduate Scheme. He successfully completed the scheme and now works as the Plant Performance and Development Engineer for px solutions. px solutions brings together expertise from various disciplines within the px group to provide high quality technical assistance in relation to the design, development and performance of energy assets.

“I can thoroughly recommend the px Graduate Scheme. Support is offered all the way along from HR and your line manager and personal development is actively encouraged. The scheme gave me the opportunity to further develop my technical and personal skills by including a number of challenging but rewarding secondments and a comprehensive management programme”. Keith Watson Performance and Development Engineer

We offer opportunities across a broad range of disciplines including engineering, commercial, financial and HR positions. These are based at sites across our business and you’re likely to have the opportunity to spend time at them all, in line with your career aspirations and our business need.

px is very much a learning organisation, believing the development of its people will support it in meeting its business goals. There is a wide range of expertise and experience for you to draw on, as many of our people have over ten years service within our business. And they also expect to learn from you. On joining us, all our employees are given personal development objectives. These enable you to contribute straightaway to our business, developing and stretching your technical and interpersonal skills, confidence and competence.

To support your personal progression, you’ll work with your line manager and HR to develop a personal development plan that will stretch and challenge you and move you towards achieving your career aspirations. You’ll consider your technical and personal skill development and use a variety of on the job projects, responsibilities, secondments and specialist training to meet your needs.

All our employees participate in our performance appraisal process, which enables you to have twice yearly developmental and progress reviews. We actively support further education qualifications and have our own in-house management development programme.

We also run twice yearly graduate development sessions, hosted by the graduate leadership team. At these, you’ll present your progress and achievements, be inspired by previous graduates and learn the secrets of their success and develop your interpersonal skills through active learning.

To be eligible to join the px Graduate Scheme, you’ll ideally have a 2:1 honours degree in a subject relevant to the opportunity you are applying for and work experience from an industrial placement or similar. As important is your attitude and commitment to your professional development. Flexibility and self-motivation are also key.

Our opportunities are advertised on our web pages and through our contacts with university careers services and academic departments.
